Hydrostatic Test
New York City Fire Code section 903.5 states that Fire Department connections must be tested and witnessed by a Fire Department representative at least once every 5 years.
What is a Hydrostatic Test?
It is a test that is performed every five years. The Master Fire Suppression Contractor applied pressure to the fire department connection and maintaining the pressure for up 2 hours; this test verified that the piping had been put together correctly, no leaks, and the fire department connection could withstand the highest pressure.
